APRIL IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
Every April, Cope Family Center and the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Napa County (CAPC) commemorate Blue Ribbon Month to raise awareness about child abuse and the effects it has on the victims and our community. During difficult times, it is especially critical that we come together to protect vulnerable children.
When families struggle, children suffer.
Over the past several years, our community has struggled with unprecedented hardship. Increasing political tensions, social unrest, an increased cost of living, and changing immigration policy have caused many in our community to experience fear and confusion. These issues on top of the everyday challenges of raising a family can put children at greater risk of maltreatment.
Last year there were 64 substantiated victims of child abuse and neglect. The true number of victims is likely much higher, because child abuse is greatly under reported. Let’s work together to protect children through these uncertain times and always.
YOU CAN HELP KEEP CHILDREN SAFE.
Everyone has a role in preventing child abuse and neglect. There are many ways you can get involved to help raise awareness and funds for child abuse prevention in our community:
